Cardio Kickboxing is for Everyone!
Yes, it’s true. Cardio Kickboxing classes are for everyone – from those who want to get in shape to those looking for the ultimate workout. You are encouraged to go at your own pace – Even if you are in good shape and participate in cross training programs, take it easy until your body adapts to a new type of move. You can stop at anytime to take a break or refersh yourself with a drink of water. You will feel very comfortable in class.
Tabata Workout
This type of workout has shown to be far more effective than steady-state cardio (running, biking, etc) for losing weight and building muscle. AND, it can be done in a shorter amount of time. So instead of biking for 2 hours you can do 45-mins (or sometimes less) of Tabata training.
Initially, these workouts were set as 20-second active and 10-second rest intervals that last 4 minutes per exercise. You would do one exercise in this manner for a total of 4 minutes and then take maybe a 60-sec rest before starting the next exercise for a total of 4 mins. However, we take some creative liberty here and there and really ramp up the intensity to give you an even greater calorie burn and faster results!
Body Pump
Body Pump is the original barbell class that strengthens your entire body. This 45-minute worko
ut challenges all your major muscle groups by using the best weight-room exercises like squats, presses, lifts and curls. Great music, awesome instructors, and your choice of weight inspire you to get the results you came for – and fast! BOSU Fitness 
Improve muscular endurance, dynamic flexibility, abdominal/back strength, stability and balance. It WILL challenge every muscle in your “core/abdominal region”! Stroller Fitness Class (No Winter Sessions)
Super Mommies Stroller Fitness is like “boot camp on wheels.” This program is taught for Moms by a Mom who can relate to their health and fitness goals pre and post pregnancy. It is action packed, sweat inducing, and adrenaline pumping. Each stroller fitness session is 45 minutes and includes circuit training, alternating cardio with weight training to maximize calories burned and keep your muscles in overdrive. This class also includes mom-baby interactive breaks and exercises to keep babies and toddlers engaged!!

There is no doubt that for many years Malinda and I were amongst the “skinny fat people” that sludged across the planet.
Don’t get me wrong we would go out and play the occasional round of tennis or golf (cart only please), and we’d walk into the gym once or twice every couple of weeks and hop on a treadmill for 20-30mins moving at a snail’s pace watching the big screens.
But we never really put much effort into exercise and we certainly didn’t see any results from our half-assed methods. Yet, we always wondered why we had our little buddah bellies, couldn’t manage our stress, and had ZERO energy?
Oh, I forgot to mention the ridiculous amounts of pizza, Chinese food, soda, and my all-time favorite chocolate-chip cookies we would put down in a week’s time.
Hmmm, maybe there was reason we both weighed 30lbs more back then than we do now?
Malinda and I worked as athletic trainers at an SEC Division I Sports Medicine Department so we were reminded daily of how defined and sculpted a person could be. We were also reminded constantly of how out of shape the two of us really were.
We would gasp for air after walking up a couple of flights of stairs. Heck, we’d even try and get university vehicles (including golf carts) so that we didn’t have to walk across campus (or even the parking lot) to get to another building.
You bet. We were utterly lazy!
One Summer we decided to take a trip to the beach and I remember to this day how embarrassing it was to take off my shirt as all the hot girls strolled by with their muscle-bound boyfriends tagging along.
Uggh, I felt like the biggest loser and I even wondered why Malinda would stay with a lazy slob like me…turns out she was feeling the same way. As many of you know, these types of thoughts of feeling inadequate, chubby, and in no way sexy led to a downward spiral of binge eating and even drinking!
Hey, if you can’t be fit you might as well be happy being fat…right? WRONG!
We knew we had to do something. We watched each other gain pound after pound, we stood along side one another as we tried on new clothes a size bigger, then two and three sizes bigger.
We realized our attraction both physically and emotionally for one another was changing for the worst.
We finally got it together and made the change we not only needed but that we TRULY WANTED!
Time To Get Healthy and Get Married…
Malinda didn’t know it, but I had bought her an engagement ring and was just waiting for the right time to ask her to marry me.
Of course, being the slob that I was I didn’t feel the timing was great…I mean why would she want to marry me? I’d get that ring out just about everyday and ask myself, no demand myself to answer the question, “When are you going to ask her stupid?”
Finally I decided that I’d ask her to marry me once I could be proud of who I was and give her the fiancé and husband that she deserved. I decided to clean up my act and get rid of the fat and doubt that was shadowing what I thought was a pretty fun-loving guy.
I think Malinda was feeling much the same as me because it was almost exactly at the same time that I made this life-changing decision that she also started to push away the pizzas and gallons of soda (yeah, we’d easily put down a case of soda in under a week). Keep in mind, she still didn’t know about the ring.
It was so cool to be able to reach towards this goal with her and I know we reached our goals faster because of the support we gave to one another. I am 24 years old and I have an 18 month old son. Let’s just say that I haven’t even come to close to where I was before I had my son. I need the help. I need the motivation. My name is Linda and after watching the news this morning I knew right away that this program would work for me. I have led a sedentary type life for most of my life due to asthma. My asthma has improved a lot so in 2006 I joined the YMCA and things were going pretty ok. I became more motivated and actually lost a few pounds but later that year I had knee surgery. I did have physical therapy for the knee but my knee just never felt right so I stopped trying to excercise. Now I am 50 pounds overweight and both of my knees are bothering me. I have spent the past 16 weeks watching my sister Erin literally bust her a** in your program and there truly are no words that can describe how proud I am of her, or how amazed I am at both the physical as well as emotional transformation I have seen her go thru. Now I know this is supposed to be about me, but I would be lying if I said she has not been my biggest motivating factor and for that I owe her huge props!
I am just shy of my 40th birthday and to be honest, I have not been happy with my body my entire life. Prior to having my children I was a size 9-10. Looking back, I would just about kill to be that size now, but at the time I was always wishing I could be one of the “thin” girls, one of the “athletic” girls. Two 10 lb children and 2 c-sections later, I am now a size 20 and believe me, every single day that I wake up and have to look at myself in the mirror, it’s a huge disappointment and a reality check, that something HAS to change. I participated in your boot camp last spring, and I was happy with both the results as well as the motivation I felt. Once boot camp was over, I joined Golds Gym and have tried to stick with it the best that I can. Knowing myself as I do, I know that without someone right there behind me, to give me a boot in my butt… yes, I will still workout, and yes, I will try to eat properly… but I will never reach my full potential.
Summer is coming up quickly, and I truly believe that this is the perfect time for me to get started. I have not worn a pair of shorts in over a year and I am embarrassed to wear short sleeve shirts (no-one wants to see flabby arms.) Being seen in a bathing suit is both terrifying as well as humiliating, and you know what, I am tired of dressing like it is the middle of winter, when it’s actually summer! As an avid watcher of News 3 in the morning, I have become very familiar with you guys over the past several years. Your segments are always inspriring!
Having entered my 30’s, my outlook on life is rapidly changing. Thoughts of children and starting a family dance in my mind. Alongside those thoughts, are more thoughts, that I know there is know way I could carry a child to term with the shape that I am in now, without physical problems and pain plaguing me the whole way. Not to mention, what happens after a baby would arrive? I’m about 80 pounds overweight, in poor shape, always tired….how would I ever keep up with the demands that a child puts on your life?
A child is something that both my husband and I want. But deep down, I know that not only do I have to be in better physical shape, stronger, but I also have to be happy with myself. Being obese is something I’ve struggled with for most of my life. As anyone who’s overweight would know, it can be a huge source of emotional pain, anxiety, and depression. I can’t focus on starting a family until I’ve focused on myself. I know that weight loss, getting into a good fitness regime and healthy eating mode are my biggest challenges, the biggest roadblocks out there to that happy life that I can see just around the bend.

I am hoping to be a proud winner/participant in your 6 week program. I may be a little different than some others you may consider, in that I don’t have 40 pounds to lose (maybe just 1/2 that), I don’t have high blood pressure, etc. but I am re-dedicated to myself and my health.
This rededication to myself occurred last year when one of my best friends lost her 16 year old son. I made the commitment as a friend to her, to start running and support her in her goal to run a 5K for her son so that a part of her son would live on. I never knew by committing to that one little act of friendship/compassion that I would begin to rediscover myself. I now enjoy running. And although I’m not getting the results I had hoped for( i.e. speed and weight loss), I keep going. The loss of my friend’s son opened my eyes to see and understand that we do not have any guarantee of a “long happy” life. That we are only given today and that we need to make the most of each day.
As I thought more and more about that, I realized that I need to really start taking care of myself and making myself as strong as I can be mentally and physically. If I can’t take care of myself, how do I care for my daughter? We only have ourselves and the tools around us.

Usually in the mornings I don’t watch television (too much of a distraction), I just listen to the radio. For some reason, something made me turn on channel 3 news this morning, which is when I saw the segment on the 16 week challenge. It was inspiring to hear the women talk about their great success, and I was especially excited to hear that there is a six week challenge coming up! I couldn’t believe my luck to hear about this wonderful opportunity, and hope to be one of the lucky few to be selected.
I’m 28, and like most people have tried fad diets, various diet programs, fasting etc, and can’t seem to lose (or keep off) the weight I gained in college. I’m really exhausted of trying to do the temporary thing and want to make a life style change, something permanent. As I enter my mid-30s, I know that I need to eat better and get on a regular workout program if I want to maintain my health. I know it. But I need a push. I need to learn HOW to get results! Money is tight as the economy has cut my salary by 10% for who knows how long. I guarantee that if I’m picked for this great opportunity, I will work hard and do everything you ask of me and more. I am hoping to be one of the very fortunate few chosen to receive a sponsorship in the 6 Week Transformation class.
I need to be the best person that I can be because I have all of these people that are counting on me, but most of all I need to be the best person I can be because I am counting on me to hold it together and be strong enough to be what my family needs to deal with and move forward from our loss.
I have found that the better I am physically the better I am mentally and spiritually. When we first lost Chris, our family was in shock. We walked around in uncomprehending disbelief. Then slowly as you must face the realization that he is never coming back, you have to deal with the grief. Not only your grief, but the grief of your children & your spouse. Dealing with grief is a tricky business, no one handles it the same and it is never a neat and clean process. As I move through this process I have found that there is no way to help those around me, especially my youngest son, without coming to a place of acceptance, and peace & calm for myself. I found this out thanks to my friend Michele. She gently but strongly pushed me to take a boot camp class with her last June. It is here that I found 45 minutes of physical exertion, a good group of awesome friends, and people that could see the best in me, brought me to a place where I was ready mentally and spiritually to keep moving forward. I don’t think she realized she saved me last June.
From there, I began running. Something Chris loved. I never thought I could do it. I always said I wasn’t built to be a runner. (I am way on the chubby side!) So, if I am being honest, I started running for Chris. I am running now for me. Chris is with me each time I hit the road, whether it is a 5K race or stress relieving run on my lunch break. But I run for me. I run to be with Chris, I run to clear my mind and I run to be healthier. Lord knows I am not breaking any speed records! But I know there is more in me. I want to be all I can be. I want to be as strong as I can be inside and out, and I need help and direction to take it to the next level.
The 6 Week Transformation will help me to be stronger to continue through the grieving and healing that still needs to take place. Each day is still a battle to get out of bed. I think my youngest son said it best, “Every day something makes me miss you. It’s not always the same but it always hurts. People say it gets easier. It doesn’t. People don’t expect it to hurt this long, but it does. People think they can understand, but they only scratch the surface of the truth.”
Help me get and keep myself strong. I have a lot of work to do and I intend to get it done!

I am going to be honest. I didn’t hear about this on the news this morning. I heard about it through my mother who is an avid watcher and thankfully heard about this challenge this morning.
I am a college student in my last year and am about to enter the “real world.” Something kind of interesting is that I also played women’s basketball at UW. Some of you may be wondering why I am even applying for this because I have led an active lifestyle for the past 4 years, but I have come to a point in my life where I am totally lost. I know how to work out with a team and prepare for games, but I don’t know how to live an active/healthy lifestyle. I need a plan for working out and eating healthy for life. I need something I can stick to and feel good about.
I not only want to lose weight to look and feel good, but I want to be healthier. My family history has heart problems and I do not want to go down that road. If I can start living a healthy life now, I know I will live a much better life. As far as looking better, of course I want to look better. I have always been good at exuding confidence to others, but inside I have always feel really insecure about my body. I want to get to a point in my life where I feel really confident about myself because then I will feel positive about so many other things in my life.
I am looking to lose about 60lbs and that has been my goal for about a year now. I relied on food because of stress in my life but now I am looking for a life-plan. I really, really want to do this and I want to be pushed to my limits. I know I could make it through and I know I would greatly benefit from this. I am a 38 year old mother of two that needs a jump start to my work out regiment.
I have been an active person all my life. I played a variety of sports and really enjoy being active. Approximately seven years ago, I took up running and competed in multiple 5K and 10Ks and even one 1/2 marathon until my body couldn’t take it anymore. As recommended by a chiro and my doctor, I have eliminated any long distance running. But am able to do everything else.
What am I looking for from this opportunity? I am feeling like I have gotten to the point in my life where I can’t keep doing what I am doing and not get results. I am at a weight and BMI I am not comfortable with. And I am afraid if I don’t do something about it now, that I will finally give up and just accept me and probably continue to grow (in not a good way). I am sick of the way my body jiggles around my middle when I am active. I am sick of the way my middle feels even when I am typing this testimonial to you. And sick of the way my middle seems to continue to grow.
I currently work out about 3-4x a week and about 15 lbs over my ideal weight. I want a strong core to help me with keep up with my 8 & 11 year old kids. I want to continue to be the mom that is very active with my kids with hiking, their sports and just life. I want definition. If chosen to be part of this program, I would be committed to see this thing through. I have a gut and a muffin top and just want have someone help me attain the body I feel I could have. I am not unrealistic of my body image, but after seeing your results on TV, and knowing a couple people that have gone through your programs and seeing the results, I feel that I would benefit from the six week transformation program. I can’t wait to jump start my metabolism and do something for ME for a change.

I’ve been thinking about this all day long (it was mentioned in boot camp this morning and then I high-tailed it home to watch Erin on the news!) and wondering if I really had “it” to even consider being in this challenge. After much consideration and soul searching, I’ve come to the conclusion that this challenge would be the spring board I need to propel me back in the direction from which I came.
I’ve been obese pretty much all of my adult life…the times I wasn’t obese was because of the various “diet programs/pills” I’ve been on. (Trust me, I’ve done them all) After the programs ended I thought I was done and proceeded to live my life of fast food and no exercise because I was…ta da!…done. Or so I thought. I was oh-so miserable after every weight gain, because I just didn’t get it! That misery led me down the road of self discovery and through that self discovery I did some research, took some classes and little by little have been hacking away at my weight in a healthy manner…sort of.
I’ve learned so much EXCEPT how to handle my issues when life happens. Okay, long story, even longer…In April of last year, I realized I needed to log my food intake and my exercise output. By maintaining balance and eating clean and healthy I felt better and had more energy and by November I was 40 lbs lighter! I was amazed that something so simple was the magic I was looking for. Knowledge is power…when you choose to know! BUT I found that when life happened to me (this time I was distressed that my son was going to be deployed to Afghanistan) the easiest thing to do was cover my head and seek comfort…the comfort that I have known all my life…crap food.
Okay, although I’ve gained half of that weight loss back, I can pick out a small victory. (Unbelievable, I know!) This time, I’ve only gained half of the loss back…before I would have gained all of it plus another 20 just for good measure. Before I would have kept my head buried and figured that there was just no help for me. Now I know that I can help myself. I know that if I reach out and ask for help when I need it, it’s not a sign of weakness, it’s strength. I’ve also learned in order to be mentally strong, I need to be physically strong and vice versa…the two go hand in hand. Right now, I’m stuck in my journey. I feel like I’m putt-putting along when I want to zoom. With your help and expertise in the 6-Week Body Transformation Program, I feel like I will be able to be super-charged and back on the path I started a year ago.

I think I woke up this morning on the righ side of the bed and said it is going to be a “Good, Good, Day”. I happened to be running late for work because of the storm during the night, but I decided to watch the news while I was getting ready. Well, what a great day to watch because the segment about your last weight loss program was being covered. I thought to myself I think it is time to start working on a healthier me. Then I heard that you were doing a 6 week program and I became even more receptive to becoming fit and healthy. I went on to your blog and watched the Rocky video… and that was very inspirational to me because I know I have no one to blame but myself for allowing myself to become less active and unhealthy.
I have decided that I need to take control of what happens to my body. I know that if I have the opportunity to take part in this challenge, it will help me become a healthier person – physically, mentally and emotionally. I feel by entering the challenge this will help me move in a positive direction. I want the feeling of accomplishment and continue to stay in tune with my health even after the challenge is over. My goal is not just to lose weight but to have a healthy lifestyle.

I don’t even know where to start when I saw you guys on channel 3 this morning. I thought I was dreaming. I was about 140pounds before I had my kids and now I weigh 225pds.My goal is to lose about 40-50pounds or even more. I have always tried to lose weight because I want to fit in again. My husband at a point paid for me to work out at princeton club for 2years but I never lost any weight. I felt like a failure after I didn’t lose any weight. He found me a month to month gym so I don’t have to have a commitment, I went there several months and no changes. I feel horrible. I usually do not go places with my friends because I can’t find anything to wear. My friends tells me that I look great in what am wearing but I think they are just trying to make me feel better because deep down inside I know I don’t. The one that got me the most was when a family member told me I came into their family with my shapeless syndrome on Facebook 3days ago. One of my friend said to me, Do you think you can get back to your normal size again? I paused for a moment and I said to her….Only if I try. If there is a way I can get the help I need to face this, I will take it. I will give it my all and all and then see if there is anything wrong with my body. Please help me chuck and malinda. I will really appreciate this.

Hi, I need your boot camp really bad. I’m not afraid to exercise and I do enjoy sports, but I don’t workout properly. I tore my miniscus 3 years ago and it really sidelined what I can do. I need to lose over 100 pounds and it’s really not from lack of trying. My number one job has been to raise my children. My baby is graduating from high school this year and now my focus has to shift to me. I can’t carry this weight any longer. Yes I’ve tried all of the fad diets and yes I’ve been successful short term but everything always comes back. It’s time for me to make a permanent lifetime shift and I would greatly appreciate the opportunity to workout with you. In my mind I know what I need to do but I need to have someone help map out my strategy for a real change that is going to last. I work at a high school and have the summer off. It’s funny that I ran into this offer today of all days. Just this week I was talking with my husband about your program and how I would love the opportunity to try it. So here is why I want to do this program. I have been overweight/obese most of my life. About 6years ago a joined a progam and lost some weight and felt great and maintained that weight for about 5 years while I worked in the health and wellness industry. Over the last year I have slowly put back on 10lbs. and find it very difficult to get it back off. I’m not one of those people that has a ton of weight to loose but 15-25lbs is a big deal. I would find it a real challenge to join your program and to finally take off the last few pounds I’ve been trying to loose for a while. I want to see my body be tone and healthy. So if I made it in the program it would be a great challenge.

After applying for this program last time I’ve had the opportunity to really reflect on the “whys” of joining and the “hows” of how did I get here in the first place. Like some of the others I do not have 40 plus pounds to loose, but I do have 20. I guess for me it’s about rediscovering a part of my life that I used to enjoy and that I desperately miss. It’s more about getting back to the REAL me and not so much about the numbers on the scale or having a tremendous before and after picture. As a nurse and nurse educator, mother, and wife there are times that I feel that I have let the responsibility of caring for others far exceed the responsibility of taking care of myself. My second child is getting ready to graduate from high school in a few weeks and I want to get back the best me that I can be. I have had a few sports related injuries (torn rotator, hip bursitis) that have hindered my progress and I feel that I need guidance and support trying to reach my goals without causing myself an injury related set back as I’ve had in the past. I am a very hard worker and I take my health seriously. I am willing to commit myself to your program and dedicate my life to making changes that will last a lifetime. I would love to finish what I have already started. I am a full time woking mother and also work for my husband doing his books on my lunch hours. I joined weight watchers and lost about 20 pounds. I recently started running as well which has pleasantly surprised me by losing 1 inch in 3 weeks. My final goal is to tone and possibly lose a few more pounds. I am always taking care of things for others when it comes to the house, my child or the business and I realize that it is important to take care of myself and seeing what your results have been for those on the website I see that is exactly what I am looking for.
I work with Michele Henry and have seen the transition not only on her body, but her attitude as well. I can come up with alot of excuses as a full time working mom, that once I get home make dinner, help with home work, do laundry, clean etc..oh there is no time for exercise or I am too tired. Well, the excuses have caught up to me. My family has numerous health conditions from high blood pressure, high cholesterol, cancer, diabetes and COPD. I am 45 and not currently on any medications and want to keep it that way. Its amazing to me when I take applications for any type of health insurance how many medications people are currently on and so young. We all know lack of a good diet and exercise are huge contributing factors to bad health. Everyone thinks that the cure all is a prescription. I want to be a good example for our boys and teach them that hard work does pay off. Making good choices can help with lowering your risk factor. I am a friend of Michele Henry and Kathy Crawford and was encouraged to write this to you. I am 38 years old with a Husband and Daughter (3yrs) and have been overweight all of my life. In recent years I have been put on High Blood Pressure medicine and am borderline Type 2 Diabetic. My father died of cancer and my mom has Type 2 Diabetes, therefore I am worried that if I don’t do something now about my weight I could end up with one of these illnesses. I struggle to lose weight as I have tried many differant diets. I have lost some weight in the last 3 years but am still extremely overweight. I am ready and motivated to make a life change and I want to feel better on the outside and inside. Now that I have a daughter and husband I want to get healthy so I can see my girl grow up, my worst fear is not living long enough to see her grow into a beautiful woman. I want to be a mom that sets a good example for her daughter and someone she can be proud of. I feel your program is what I need to start my HEALTHY LIFE. I just ran across this email today. I have to say I met Melinda at our Weekly MOPS meeting. I am GREATLY interested in this program. But currently am unable to afford the program at this time due to my husband being unemployed. I keep telling myself I need to do this for my kids. I want to be able to run like I used to, and go for long walks. Not to say that I don’t do this now, but I want to be able to enjoy it!

I am hoping that you will consider me for your 6 week program. I am 56 years old and have struggled with weight all of my life. I have done many programs and lost 20-30 lbs and then gain it all back. I struggle with depression and am on medication. The medication has helped emotionally but still haven’t able to get my act together for physical activity.
I think your program is awesome and would love to be a part of it to kick start me again and stay with it.

I would benefit greatly from this program to get me started again on managing my weight. I am 56 years old and since a total hysterectomy have not been able to manage my weight as I could prior to that. I’m 5 feet 7 and now weigh 210 lbs. When I married 17 years ago I was 160 lbs. and felt and looked great. With a high stress job, a thirteen year old daughter, a chronically ill husband, I could benefit greatly from the instruction and discipline of your program. I have watched News 3 for several years now and every time you are a guest on their show I have wanted to contact you. You really make exercising seem fun with different ways to exercise – like the ropes this morning. I could just imagine how the arms must have been aching within seconds! What a great idea for working out your arms!
Briefly, here’s my story. Several years ago I used to work out about 3-4 times a week and was in the best shape of my life. However, after an injury, which took 3 years to diagnose, I had to undergo a total hip replacement at the age of 45. It has now been 8 years post hip replacement and while I am fine, pain free, and very happy to have replaced the hip, it altered the ability for what kinds of exercises/workouts/sports that I could do. I gained weight. Now, at the age of 53, I am also experience the weight gain associated with menopause. In addition to that, I work 2 jobs – 7 days a week, and finding the time to get in a workout can be challenging. Working out first thing in the morning would be a great way to fit exercise into my busy schedule. I would LOVE to get excited about a fitness routine again, and challenge myself and others who have undergone joint replacements. I just need a little push. Please push me!! Hi my name is Kirsten Sudieh and i am 27. I have been overweight since i was 12. Everywhere i go people stare at me because of my weight. My two sisters got married last year and they asked me to me their braidesmaid but i said no because of the way i look. I am not happy with my weight at all and this is killing me slowly. My close friend is getting marry again in July this year and i agreed to be a braidesmaid but i am so ashame of my weight. I have even been stuggling to have kids but i can’t because of my weight. Everytime i try to go to the gym i get ashame because other people just stare at you all day. I am so close to 300 pounds and i need you to consider me please,please,please,please. I just got your email about having one spot left in your body transformation challenge. I thought I about leaving my plea the first time you requested entries, but didn’t. This second email was my sign that I should go for it…what would I have to lose? Hopefully some weight!! What did I have to gain?? Confidence, a better body, a better self image, and maybe even an inspiration to someone who didn’t think they could do it
I’m a 30 year old stay at home mom of two kids, ages 5 and 3. They need their mom, they need me to be around for them to shuttle them off to kindergarten, cheer them on in high school, move them into college and watch them get married. They need a healthy example that they can follow and right now they’re learning that fast food and dinners from boxes are the norm in our family and that running around just makes you hot and sweaty and who wants to be sweaty??
Not only do I want to do this for my kids and husband, but for myself as well. I’ve always been the overweight one of all my friends and it’s time for me to live the best life that I can and be the best, most healthy person I can be. I would love the opportunity to try your program. I am a 10 year breast cancer survivor (I was diagnosed at age 43). Four and a half years ago I had a failed breast reconstruction surgery that left me with no breasts and very low self esteem. My tram flap surgery failed for both breasts and I lost my two rectis abdominal muscles. I work on the west side of Madison but live on farm in Waterloo. I ride horses and work on our farm and work can be very difficult without your stomach muscles. I had knee surgery June 2009 for a torn left meniscus. I had an ACL reconstruction on right knee 15 years ago. In the process of all this trauma I have gained 50 pounds. I am still active but activity is much harder than it needs to be. I now have high blood pressure becuase of the extra weight and alot of joint pain. I would like to lose 50-60 pounds and my life would be much easier. My horse would thank me too. I have 4 dogs and 5 horses. Animals are my passion and I worked out everyday until my failed surgery 4.5 years ago. Having no breasts or stomach muscles comprised me mentally, physically and spiritually. I am now ready to lose weight and be the woman I still have time to be. (I am now 53) I just need some direction and support.

So here’s my story for why I want this sponsorship…
Simply put…I need my butt kicked into gear.
Im a single mom of the best and most energetic 8 yr old in the world (really Im not biased at all! haha) Its the classic single mom story…money is tight…. tighter than tight most of the time. I do my best with what we have. We dont get the extra’s very often because the regular bills are more important. So the fun trips out of town to the cool waterparks and stuff…not really our thing. But you know what, my son is ok with that. Cuz what he likes the most is the time we spend together doing things at home or with friends and family. When he asks to go to these fantastic places and I tell him we cant afford that, he tells me its ok Mom, will you build a fort with me instead? Or can we do an art project together Mom? (Now you get why I think he’s the best 8 yr old in town right?) So you see, making sure that my son has summer clothes to wear this season, a pair of shoes that doesnt have holes in them, and perhaps a new bike helmet to wear outside so he doesn’t sit in front of the tv like his mom does…these are the things that I choose to spend my money on. These are the important things. Meanwhile, taking care of my needs…that comes in last place. I know it shouldn’t always, and I do what I can to take care of myself the best that I can, but I just can’t justify spending money on a membership to somewhere when there are groceries to be bought.
However, I have this goal that I need to achieve and I need a little help getting there. This is where YOU come in. You see, my goal is this…I want to be able to chase my son around the yard for 15 minutes straight because he asks me to come outside and play tag. I want to be able to go on a bike ride together and not be the one slowing us down because I cant breathe. I want to do all the things that he asks me to do that I just don’t have the energy for today. I got myself half way there by quitting smoking a little over a year ago…now I just need to be healthy and change my body. The problem is, as much as I know I want that I just cant seem to get myself moving. I cant get out of bed or off the couch with enough motivation to do a workout video for more than 2 days in a row. Im one of those people that needs to be held accountable. I need to make a goal and not be able to tell myself…eh, you’ll do it later or tomorrow. By being in a class that I have to show up for, and having someone there to kick me into gear. I know that would give me that last bit of motivation and drive to do this…for myself, and my son. Before, there was no way I could do it because of the costs of these classes, but now because of this sponsorship, I actually have a chance!
Please help me reach my goal!
