Madison Boot Camp Instructor Shares His Personal Childhood Story

Hey Everyone,

Chuck here to share with all of you a tough time in my childhood.

The video tells the story but here’s a little bit of background.

I grew up in a very small town in southern Illinois. It was farming and coal-mining town that, in my humble opinion, was slowly dying. That is, the cool mines were all shutting down, and have all shut down as far as I know. My friends dads’ were losing jobs left and right and things weren’t much better for my family.

My folks were going through a tough time trying to make ends meet and my brother and I were right there through it all.

Check out the video and then the rest of the text below…

I was raised on the notion that family is everything and you take care of each other with as much love and dedication as you can muster up. In addition, you did what you could to help your neighbors in need. Sure, we may not have had much while I was growing up but we did have more than some. To my folks that meant that you did what you could to help those in need in whatever way you could afford. That might mean cutting their grass, letting them ride along to the grocery store because they had no car, bringing them the occasional warm dinner that they couldn’t afford, things like that.

I’ll not forget those times as they are fuel for my fire and my continuous drive. Some people ask me where I get the energy to do what I do and put in the hours I put in. To me, there are hundreds of reasons; My daughter and my wife are reason number 1. My childhood and what my parents taught me about helping those in need is number 2. I know I can’t help every person I come into contact with, but I can sure as heck try. And I’ll be damned if I’m going to give up!

Help out these kids in need and bring your unused, unwanted coats and sweatshirts to our studio or to your boot camp and lets pay forward all the good that has come to our lives. We’ll be doing a donation during our regular thursday morning segment around 6:45am.

Its this thursday so bring what you can tomorrow and we’ll make that donation on-air. Even if you can’t get us stuff until next week, bring it out and we’ll get it down there when we teach the Channel 3 Boot Camp Challenge on Monday.

Thank you so much for all you do and for being a blessing to someone in need
